3 Week Thailand Itinerary

We start out at the airport of Krabi for a first stop in Ao Nang to catch up with the jetlag. Then we travel south to Koh Mook, Koh Libong and Koh Kradan. Finally we head out to the beautiful Koh Lipe before we fly home from Langkawi. Move around in the embedded map above or enlarge it to see the stops in this itinerary.

3 Week Thailand Itinerary

1. Ao Nang

Ok, so we choose to go to Ao Nang, 130 km and a good 2 hour drive north of the islands we want to visit. Is that really the best option? Simply put – no. You would be better of traveling to Trang Airport (45 minutes away from the ferry to Koh Mook) and go directly to the islands.

But, once again the available flights decided for us, and we ended up in Ao Nang which turned out to be a great starting point in this itinerary. We only stayed here for a couple of days this time to shake of the jetlag.

If you like, you could stay longer to include a trip to Railay Beach.

The beach at Sivalai Beach Resort on Koh Mook

2. Koh Mook

The first island on our island hopping tour is Koh Mook. It’s a small island in the Southern Thai province of Trang, only 4.5 km from one side to the other. You can practically walk anywhere.

In the local language, Koh Mook means “Pearl Island” – and it’s a pearl all right! Here, you can find one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand by the Sivalai Beach Resort. The beach there is shallow and a great place to visit with kids.

It’s simply fantastic!

Relaxing days on Koh Libong

3. Koh Libong

The island of Koh Libong is a much larger island than Koh Mook and Koh Kradan, but it still feels small in some way. The tourism has still barely touched the island and our hotel is one of very few resorts that exist on the west coast.

You can imagine that this must be have been the way Koh Lipe looked 20 years ago, still untouched and unexploited. And we like it – just for that reason. If you’re looking for a relaxing time, you have come to the right place! We stayed for 3 days and found a great hotel that we could recommend.

In addition to that, we also had time to rent a motorbike to get around the island on our own.

Snorkeling at Koh Kradan

4. Koh Kradan

After Koh Libong, we head out to the paradise island Koh Kradan. This island is by far the closest to a paradise island we get on this island hopping tour in high competition with Koh Lipe. It’s a small island in the Trang Province, not too many resorts here at all.

The island is named from its oblong shape and has an area of approximately 600 acres or 2.4 square kilometers. An amazing place where we stayed on the reef-side of the beach. Tide makes this beach the best stop for snorkeling right of the beach, no need for expensive and crowded trips.

This is place that you want return to!

Koh Lipe

5. Koh Lipe

The last stop in the itinerary is Koh Lipe. For many years, the paradise island of Koh Lipe in Thailand was a well-hidden off the beat destination for most tourists. Since then, the development of the island has transformed the place in many ways, but not for the worse.

There are now several resorts and restaurants here to choose from and a handful of activities for travelers with children.

Koh Lipe is still a small and cozy island with limited traffic and outstanding beaches.
